Desh Bhagat Yaadgar has emerged a renowned centre for social, political and educational activities in this region. Hardly a day passes without a meeting of one kind or another with gathering of political rallies, social scientists, workers and labourers, trade unionists, students, writers and artists.

Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Committee arranges seminars and lectures by public figures in order to promote science, literature, fine arts, and furthers the cause of social, economic and political education imparting secular, patriotic and cultural values for ideal citizenship.

Annual fair known as Ghadri Babaian da Mela is well-known event attracting thousand of spectators. This takes place in the last week of October with an all-night performance of plays as its special feature. The fair is now spread into three-days gala event with special events for children. Another highlight of this fair is the participation by school pupils from educational institutions competing in spot paintings, music, theatrical plays, essay writing and quiz programme. In addition, plays are staged by renowned artists along with poetry recitals as also lectures by eminent authorities on socio-economic issues. The fair attracts many community and small left-wing publishers with book exhibitions. Inspired by this festival, similar fairs have been organised on other towns of Punjab as well among Indian communities of America and Canada.
